had to update my VPS to OpenBSD 8.0 (7.9 is the current release, 8.0 is a pre-release snapshot) because relayd got ED25519 certificate support a month after it shipped </3
alas, now the remote IP address stays and I can re-do my setup so that it's all nice and accurate :3

oh my god i've accidently stumbled across meeting notes regarding our slop spend and it's insane
£400k per year, growing fucking 46%. this year alone is currently £200k at Anthorpic alone, and if you take the data from when we had near-unlimited free usage at OpenAI we could use up to £2m per year (OpenAI has apparently reached out to us for a £3m per year deal but we denied it)

OpenBSD's philosophy of "everything you need is included" works very well for a shrimple VPS like Corsac
most things get proxied using built-in relayd to Lagopus (443, SSH, XMPP) with a very simple three-line-per-proxy config. relayd also supports healthchecks - so for HTTPS, it expects a 200 from Host autumnfo.rest from Lagopus, otherwise it just . moves on to the fallback
said fallback is built-in httpd. you can just specify "yo load the error pages from this dir" and it just does, so it blanket-returns 503 & loads 503.html from a dir and Just Works
i love it sm for situations like this

as lagopus is still a wip, i set up a little fallback thing on corsac, so now the autumn forest displays a silly message if my server is down :3
