website (in het engels): https://finlee.ee

cool dutch word: fnuikend

deze fout was fnuikend voor mijn toets: this mistake was fucking terrible for my test (something like that, hard to translate)

i've genuinely never seen someone this enthusiastic about dutch, not that i'm complaining :3c

very true!!! altho i am a big enjoyer of 'houdoe' (a thing they say where i live), and 'dag dag'

(girl who guessed correctly (that's how you use them :3 schattig / shattiger / (de) schattigste))

big sad that a diminuitive of my name (finley'tje) looks kinda bad :(

but finlietje (if you dutchify it) looks pretty good i think :3

Mentions wintertje
yapping about dutch

awawa i don't wanna overwhelm you or anything but,,, i'm working on a system of neopronouns for dutch and i think you might find it cool :3

so like you have hij/hem/zijn,,, and zij/haar/haar,,, but what if you had dij/den/diens :3 as a genderneutral pronoun

diens historically was a masculine pronoun but it's so rare and formal nowadays that it's fine, and dij/den are a priori. i do think they fit nicely in the row of jij/gij/hij/zij/wij :3

digitigrade should become cijferegraad with all the dutching

(funnily both 'digit' and 'grade' usually translate to 'cijfer' lol)

i like that wikiwoordenboek defines the word 'editor' as (among other things) 'a computer program with which text or source code can be written, with our without markup functions', whereas a teksteditor is specifically defined as having 'many markup functions' :3

there's also 'broncode-editor' which i guess is the most fit for duin

Last modified 11 May 2026, 05:21

bwaa i've been thinking about this but uhm i think it'd be better if it was 'dit' rather than 'deze', 'cause 'deze' implies it's that dune specifically? but idk how to really explain that bwaaaa

b-b-but awawawa tysmmmm >~<

de taalunie can be a little bit annoying at times, but they help standardise the language (with their groene boekje) which i suppose is pretty nice. other than that they mostly help people with the language, including in former dutch colonies! but if you really want a cool dutch language authority....

onzetaal is really cool :3

they're friendly and they have a cool magazine with cool linguistic facts in it and i love it and aaaa

they're very good little descriptors and they document everything, including speech considered archaic

they recently did some research into making the dutch language more inclusive which i think is pretty cool

yeahhhhh
i think it's even better than in spanish or french 'cause there's a lot less that depends on it

it's only really the articles, words like 'this' (dit / deze) and 'that' (dat / die), and adjective endings that change depending on noun class, whereas in spanish and french there's a lot more (i thinK)

Last modified 10 May 2026, 06:22

well yeah it is mostly pointless, but!!! there's cases where the article matters

for example:

de fietsen = the bikes
het fietsen = the act of biking :3 (here fietsen is a verb)

but yeah mostly it doesn't matter. at least there's only 2, rather than 3 or even more;;;; (some stupid language nazis insist there's still a difference between masculine and feminine words but no one cares)

do not believe in fokschaap propaganda!!!! it's such a stupid thing, in reality it's way simpler (if you know a bit of linguistics)

unvoiced consonant -> unvoiced ending (t)
voiced consonant -> voiced ending (d)

this works much better overall, since whenever there's an unvoiced consonant that's outside of 't fokschaap, -t should still be used

like if you loan the english 'to crash', the correct past tense form is actually 'crashte'

the Nederlandse wikiwoordenboek is zo goed >:) ik heb er zoveel obscure woorden geleerd

dutchhhhhhhhh

achtentachtig prachtige nachten bij achtentachtig prachtige grachten

daar waar woorden worden, worden woorden woorden, maar waar worden woorden woorden? waar worden woorden waar? daar?
